Day 1 Arrive in Ulaanbaatar          

Arrive in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city and where half the population of Mongolia lives. First  we’ll visit Gandan Buddhist monastery, the most active religious monastery in the country where many faithful believers come from all over the world. Then we continue visit National Museum of Mongolian History, where you will see artifacts from Mongolia and Central Asia from the Stone Age to the present. Excursion to Zaisan Hill War Memorial to get your bearings with a panoramic view of the whole city. Overnight in the hotel. (L+D)

Day 2 Ulgii heart of Khazakh ethnic groups

Transfer to airport and flight to Ulgii (about 4 hours), here we are at the heart of Kazakh and Muslim ethnic groups. You can explore the city’s sights and attractions, such as local markets, craft stores, and you can visit traditional clothing stores which have clothes from various ethnicities. Overnight in tents out of the city. (B+L+D)

Day 3  Tsagaan glacier stream

Excursion to the Tsagaan glacier stream and on the way visit a Kazakh livestock breeding family. When you visit one of the local families, you might notice the uniqueness of the yurts. They are taller and more spacious than all of the other yurts in Mongolia. You’ll admire their interior and exterior designs that is only found in very few Arabian countries. Camping. (B+L+D)

Days 4-5 Tolbo lake 

Drive from Ulgii, alongside the Tolbo lake (bird watching) to Khovd. Camping underneath the starry sky. (B+L+D)

Days 6-8 Khar Us lake         

Drive from Khovd via Khar Us lake which has geological specificities, its boggy banks are overhanged with peaks covered with perpetual snow. In the middle of the Lake, we find Ak-Bashi Island, whose name means “white head” in Kazakh. This island separates the Lake in two parts, the Southern part and the Northern part. It’s located at 272 metres (892 feet) from the banks of the lake. Camping. (B+L+D)

Days 9-10 Tosontsengel

Drive from Altai to Uliastai and on to Tosontsengel. During the driving adventures you will experience the fascinating beauty of the scenery and real peace and quiet. Camping. (B+L+D)

Days 11-12 Khorgo and White Lake          

Drive to Tosontsengel-Khorgo-National Park where, over a million years ago, a spectacular natural wonder came into being. Because of volcanic-eruptions from more than 30 volcanoes, there is now the famous White lake, several volcanic craters and fantastic lava caves. Visit a stock breeding family with yaks and horses. Overnight in gers. (B+L+D)

Days 13-14 Tsenkher Hot Spa        

Drive to Taikhar rock, Tsenkher Hot Spa (Spring). This spring lies south of Tsetserleg town in Arkhangai province and comes out from far deep part of the ground and its water is not mixed with soil waters because it is hot. Also the spring is kept in high pressure under the ground flow rate is high, 10 liters per seconds. The water has high mineral content and containing everything from simple calcium, sodium to sulphuric. Folklore claimed medical value some of this springs have, they are often popular tourist destinations for Mongolian people. Overnight in ger camp. (B+L+D)

Day 15  Kharakhorum and Elsen Tasarkhai

Drive to Tsenkher-Kharkhorin, Elsen Tasarkhai (Semi-desert area). Visit the first Buddhist monastery ErdeneZuu and the ruins of the ancient Mongolian capital. . The Erdenezuu monastery is the most ancient survived Buddist monastery in Mongolia. The Erdenezuu monastery was built in 1585 by Abtai Sain Khan and the monastery was allowed to exist as a museum, the only functioning monastery was Gandan monastery in the capital, Ulaanbaatar. However after the fall of communism in Mongolia in 1990, the monastery was turned over the lamas and Erdenezuu again became a place of worship. Afternoon camel riding and walking on the sand dunes in Elsen tasarkgai. Overnight in ger. (B+L+D)

Day 16  Ulaanbaatar

Drive to Ulaanbaatar. If you would like to do some shopping for souvenirs and cashmeres, here is the chance and later in the evening, we all attend a live performance of Mongolian National folklore. Overnight in the hotel.  (B+L+D)

Day 17 Departure         

After breakfast, you will be transferred from your hotel to the airport. (B)
