Day 1. Ulaanbaatar

Arriving in Ulaanbaatar. Transfer to hotel. City tour. Visit to Gandan Monastery and Bogd Khan Palace Museum. Overnight in hotel. (L+D)

Day 2. Khan khentii national park

After briekfast driving to Khentii. The drive is approximately 200km and will take about 8 hours. Continuing into the Khentii Mountain Range, we will reach the soum of Mongonmorit in the late afternoon. Situated in the town are the headquarters of Khan Khentii National Park. We will meet the park rangers who will give us a brief introduction to the National Park. Overnight in tent. (B+L+D)

Day 3. Burkhan Khaldun Sacred Mountain

Continue driving to the foothills of Burkhan Khaldun Mountain, about 60km. We will camp near the foot of the mountain and visit the ‘ovoo,’ the site of worship, which is nearby. Ovoos generally consist of piles of rocks and other offerings to the gods such as blue silk, money, and food. To worship you place your offering on the ovoo and walk clockwise around it three times. Overnight in tent. (B+L+D)

Day 4. Khukh Nuur

Driving to Khukh (Blue lake of Khar Zurkhen mountain) Nuur. This is a small lake surrounded by forested mountains. It is famous as the site of the historical event in the 13th century when Temujin was granted the title of Chinggis Khaan. On the way to Khukh Nuur we will drop by the Tsonjin Boldog- the giant Chingiss Khaan statue. Overnight in tourist camp.  (B+L+D)

 

Day 5. Baldan bereeven monastery

Continue driving until we reach a place recently discovered and named as a possible burial place of Chinggis Khan. In the summer of 2001 and 2002 a joint American-Mongolian expedition conducted research in the hope of discovering the burial site of the Mongolian royal family of the XIIIth century. We will visit Baldanbereeven Monastery en route. Overnight in tent. (B+L+D)

Day 6. Uglugch wall 

Day of rest at the burial site, exploring the area. Today we will also visit Uglugch Wall. Overnight in tent. (B+L+D)

Day 7.  Kherlen River

Driving to Terelj National Park. Overnight in tent on the shores of Kherlen River. (B+L+D)

Day 8.  Terelj National Park

Drive to Terelj national park and Chinggis Khaan statue. First we will visit the giant statue of Chingiss khan and explore the craftsmanship and tradition of ancient Mongols. Here is a chance to feel the wind of the steppe on the top of the iron horse. Then drive to Terelj national park, hiking around the Turtle rock and visit Aryapala - a Modern Mongolian Meditation Center. Overnight in tourist camp. (B+L+D)

Day 9. Ulaanbaatar 

Driving back to Ulaanbaatar. Shopping. Evening cultural performance. Overnight in hotel.  (B+L+D)

Day 10.  Departure

Transfer to Airport. Depart from Ulaanbaatar. (B)
